Introduction
Living a great life... That is a very subjective goal, right? For some people the definition of a great life may be having the perfect family, for some others having a great financial status, for others may be just having peace. With this in mind we may have asked at some point in life what is our purpose here, why are we here.
The importance behind this question is quite simple: This gives us the reason to wake up every day with the right motivation to do so.
In this post we will be talking about, not only what this is, but also the importance in finding it (your life purpose) as well as 3 ways to actually do it.
What is Life Purpose?
Think of Life Purpose as the ‘why’ and the ‘what for’ of your life, the arguments that give your life a sense of motivation and calling, the reasons behind what you do or what you want to do. This purpose is connected with the meaning you give to your existence and the reasons you are in this world.
Why is Life Purpose Important?
Having a life purpose allows us to have and aim for a bigger purpose, it is the argument that actually lets us live and have a full life, one that goes beyond only existing.
Having the right motivators and the right goals to aim for (a life purpose), not only the ones set by the society we were borned in, is what will in the end let us live a fulfilled and happy life, one that no matter what happens in front of us, discomfort or difficulties, we will continue working towards something bigger than us.
“The heart of human excellence often begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you, or gives you a sense of meaning, joy, or passion.” Terry Orlick
How to Find your Life Purpose
We seem to find a large number of people that are borned with this burning desire to do something in their lives, that something is purpose, sometimes that same purpose is hidden behind a great book, conversation or lecture, some other times is even more difficult to find it.
No matter in which group of people you may find yourself in, these next tips will allow you to get your purpose without struggling so much to find it.
Walk through your interests: Are you a sports lover ? Have you always loved to cook and doing things in the kitchen ? Are you an artistic person that loves to draw, or write or sing ? Do you love to have conversations about science fiction and would love to write about it ? What are your interests ? What really interests you and pulls you to having more of it can definitely give you some lights over what your purpose(s) in life may be.
What you love to do: Do you love to cook ? To play musical instruments ? To tell stories to others ? To serve ? To defend others ? Your actions and doings also have a lot of power helping you find your purpose. If you are already excellent at doing something and you love to do it, your purpose maybe is not hidden at all.
How would you like to be remembered?: This is a very powerful tool/question that can definitely help you find your life purpose. Think about the lives of the people you are able to interact with and engage with. In the event of your dead, what would they say about you? How would they remember you? Would they remember you for being a great artist? for being the best singer? Or for being a loving person?
After going through these questions and ideas you should be able now to have a better understanding of what your life purpose is, why it can change your life to have that clear and how you can change the way you live to actually live to your highest potential.
