SPECIFIC GOALS: MEASURABLE

Another of the factors that determine an achievable goal, a dream that will come true, is that it is measurable, that one can know in one way or another if we are approaching or the distance to it remains the same or-in the worst case - we are moving away from it.

How do you know if you are approaching your dream? How are you measuring that distance? Is what you're doing bringing you closer or farther from your goal? The first step is taken, write when you are going to see your goal accomplished, the first step to define specific goals. After you have taken this very important step, what follows is to take the second, and then this the third, and continue walking and working towards your dream. The important thing about those steps is really knowing what they are and how you can measure them.

It is very common to hear and hear from people who have put aside their dreams because they have not been able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, they see that star so far that questions begin to arise such as the following: "if it will be worth the effort?", "I don't think I'm getting close to that goal", "What am I going to be doing wrong?". All these questions find their answer in how you measure the distance between you and your dream, how you know if what you are doing is serving.

It is quite useful to have certain points located throughout the process that serve as indicators of achievement. How far or near you are getting to your goal, these can function as submetas within a big goal. An important clarification: it may be a small goal, but it should be treated with the same importance as the main goal. In addition to this measure, you can point out in your goal What are the events or situations that give a strong and concrete evidence of your closeness to your dreams.

These control variables can be included ,in a written way, in your goal as control points. They fulfill one of these purposes: to indicate progress towards your goal or to point out mistakes to correct to achieve it.

"A goal without a plan

is just a wish."

Larry Elder

What has to happen along the way to have the absolute certainty that you are moving towards your goal? How will you know if you are getting closer to fulfilling those dreams? Knowing how to measure your approach, how close or far you are from your dreams allows you to move forward with firm step towards them or correct the path timely, if necessary.
