SETTING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Our goals and objectives in life are part of what moves us as humans, however on many occasions these goals seem fuzzy, or they may not motivate us enough and not give us enough happiness, this in part by following not our ideals but those that have been imposed on us in our cultural landscape.

Surely at some point in life you defined your goals, either many years ago or you just do it, however there is an error that often makes these goals in many cases do not come true, or that - at the end of the day - do not motivate and fill us as we hope. This is because we move our dreams through the relative truths of happiness that we were taught from childhood. I'll give you some examples:

"I'm going to finish school, then my college career, be a great professional, have a beautiful family..."

or a common scenario and that usually results in a worn-out life:

"I will find a good job, in a good company, to earn a lot of money..."

There is a big problem with defining our goals in this way and it is that you are tying your life project to a career and money, resulting in the following phrases that we see and hear so often:

"I hate Mondays", "I already want it to be Friday", "I already want to retire", "again to sit at that desk", "there is a lot left for the holidays"...

These life goals often end in unsatisfied and unhappy lives, which is sad to see so often, especially among young adults, as they will very surely reach the end of their lives beating their chests about what they really would have liked to do and did not do and vice versa.

This comes from making, setting and working for goals that are the means to an end, not the end itself. We have decided to buy the idea that those result in happiness and nothing can be further from reality. The goals you should set are those that excite you when talking about them with your friends, those that produce butterflies in your stomach.

The objectives that are the end in itself, not a means to get to him, are the ones who should start to define, are those that longs to fulfill your heart, that make 'time fly' when you think and work in them and are very connected with your feelings, define them on the basis of this will make you reflect on the goals that you already have or in which you'll design. Define your goals by the experiences you want to live in life, how you want to grow, and how you could help others when you meet them.

These goals have something very important and is that they will make you happy in the long term, but also on the road and in your pursuit of that goal, and it is because she is moved by what you really want.

"A good goal should scare you a little and get you excited a lot"

Joe Vitale
