When you carry a weight for a long time, you will inevitably tire, you will lose the strength to keep walking, keep walking and certainly that tiredness at some point will demand a rest that is very surely not in your plan of action and will keep you in that position from which you seek to get out. This is what happens when you load your past when you walk towards your dreams.
Our past contains within it many images, many sounds and many moments from which we do not want to walk away or forget, these are the beautiful moments, such as your graduation, your first kiss, your first love, your first friend, your first goal-at least for lovers and players of the sport-. However, within our memory there are also moments that we must let go, with which we must make peace.
In addition to the lessons that come with the pitfalls, those that are possible only and only exist if we are willing to walk towards what we want to achieve and what we are building for our life, living with a dumbbell -called past - tied to the ankle, is one of the reasons why sometimes getting to that point that we want to be is often so complicated, and sometimes we decide to stop trying.
The past is only useful if from it you are only going to draw the teachings, if from it you are only going to take the best, what you learned with each step, the rest is much more than dispensable.
The reason many projects don't seem to move forward is because of how much we love or enjoy carrying the bad past, that is, walking with the mistakes that were made before or with the pain of falling on your knees when you barely took the first step towards your goal. Certainly we cannot do much about the past, what we can do is choose how to perceive it: failure or teaching?
"We should use the past
as a trampoline and not as a sofa."
Harold McMillan
Not making peace with your past is going to mean in your life that every time you fall in love, so be it of a completely different person than the one who made you 'stop believing in love', you are going to see that person who hurt you, you are going to start to stop dreaming of that perfect love that you Not letting go of your past means that if you failed in your first attempt to develop an idea, you are not going to develop it again, this or that one you have, so be it one that can change the world.
In many cases the fear of falling again, of stumbling again, of 'failing' again, is the same that limits you and 'forbids' you to see and walk to where you want to be. Making peace with your past is shaking his hand, saying goodbye and thanking him for the learning he left you. Do not carry your mistakes or 'failures' with you, they are only there to leave you teachings, not to be your travel companions or fill you with fears.
