To define and prioritize your values you must first know what they are, and surely this will help you understand them: your values are the factors and scenarios that we consider important in relation to how we live our life, and they are built from our environment, our culture and what we live. From them must arise the decisions that lead you to your dreams and goals.
Have you felt at some point in your life that things are not going well, that you are not being the person you thought or wanted to be, that things are not how you visualized them and that what you work on a daily basis does not really fill you? it's because you started putting your values aside.
"Your values define who you really are.
Your real identity is the total sum of your values.'
Assegid Habtewold
When the decisions we make are not aligned with your values is when we begin to feel that things are not going well, that there is something that is not right. We must be willing to make a real effort to rediscover and embrace our values if we do not want to make decisions away from them to lead us to unhappiness and frustration.
Usually letting go of our values is a product of culture or society. It is very common to hear that, for example "honest people are passed over", "loving a lot only leaves pain"," a sensitive man is not well seen","humility is equal to poverty". Therefore, we usually do not know the values that at some point gave Line and rule to our life, and from which we work in our dreams.
Understanding, recognizing and accepting your values will help you make decisions that go along with what, unconsciously, you really feel comfortable and happy about. For example: if you are a person who values family time, and you accept a job of 18 hours a day, you will not feel satisfied with it even if you make good money, it is in situations like these that recognizing your values will help you make the best decision for your inner peace.
Our values should determine our priorities and are generally the ones that tell us if our life, and what we want for it, is on the right track. A good starting point to know if our decisions are taking us on a good path is when the decisions we make fit and go according to our values.
