DISCOVERING DISCOMFORT

As you enter a state of meditation the last thing you think about is discomfort, this is a moment of peace to find self-reflection and relaxation. However, recognizing discomfort and being able to point it out will open doors to challenging new scenarios that will give you improved control over your mind.

We define discomfort as something that makes you feel uncomfortable and makes it difficult to stay in a place or perform certain tasks. It can range from stockings or shoes that are not made for your measure, to a word or phrase that someone else uses-not necessarily a vulgarity-, not being comfortable can be by one of these-and by others - factors: people, scenarios, images, sounds, etc.

When was the last time you felt uncomfortable? Was it for a random comment, for a word for a look, for a moment of rage, for hearing a lie, for listening or watching the news?. On this earth there will be things that rob us of peace, calm or tranquility, however, and as in many other scenarios, all control is ours, hence the importance of knowing how to recognize what bothers us and beyond that, how to control it and make it usable.

Remember that time when you were in a perfect scenario for you, a scenario that you enjoy and love to be in. To your mind will surely enter thoughts full of positive emotions such as calm, happiness and peace. What if this scenario is burst by a noise you don't like, or that person you don't like to see comes in, or that word you don't like to hear comes out of someone's mouth? Uncomfortable?

In addition to being necessary to know what Moments, People, words, contexts, etc., make us feel uncomfortable, it is imperative to maintain 'composure', not to allow this or these alter our perception of reality, that they do not affect our state of peace and mental tranquility.

Finding comfort in discomfort can sound a bit idealistic, utopian and-sometimes-even impossible. However everything will be of perception and there the importance of discovering what it is that bothers us to not allow it to do it and, in fact, be able to transform it into something productive, finding at that moment what can be used, what can be learned from it and how to achieve that it does not disturb comfort.
